Springtime: refreshing your makeup kit

Written By: Brigitte on March 16, 2012 4 Comments

We have just had a few splendidly sunny days in New York to remind us that spring is just around the corner. It comes as a soft warm light, a gorgeous burst of color and the feeling of wanting to shed everything winter. Am I the only one who wants new clothes, a fabulous purse, a new haircut and different makeup? If nothing else, I like to start a new makeup kit and get rid of products that don’t “wow” me anymore. So let me introduce you to a few of my new favorite goodies that I have received from different brands.

Meet my some of my new favorite friends:

Antioxidant Day Cream Meaningful Beauty
You know, finding a good day cream should be an easy thing and yet it’s not. They can be too greasy, not moisturizing enough, not great with makeup, have too much silicone or a weird scent and a variety of issues.
I happen to like Toleriane from Laroche-Posay because it’s neutral, smells good and performs well. However, I have come to like the Antioxidant Day Cream from Cindy Crawford Meaningful Beauty because of the same reasons, although it’s a tad less rich AND it has a high SPF of 20.

Crema by Rodin
Olio Lusso, the oil concocted by my friend Linda Rodin is a fixture in my makeup kit since day one. Now she has just created a delightful hand and body cream and I’m fascinated again. It is luxuriously rich and the scent is wonderful. I want to be dipped in it every morning. My clients love it too.

Styli style eyeliner
So hard to find for a while. The ultra fine Sharpie-like felt tip makes applying eyeliner incredibly easy. No globs, no drying time, no separate brush – just draw and it stays put. With a price tag of $8, I say it’s a superstar.

The superstars of lip color:

Nars – Velvet Matte Lip Pencil
I love the velvety finish of this crayon, it’s so easy to apply and it seems to have some long lasting property because it sure stays on for a long time. I’m partial to the vivid shades like Dragon girl but a powdery pastel like Bolero is also divine.

Clinique – Chubby Stick Lip Colour Balm
I’m Crazy about these pencils. They moisturize, they have the perfect sheerness and they are twist-ups so you don’t have top sharpen them. The shade called Whole Lotta Honey seems to work on everyone who wants a discreet hint of a color.

Guerlain Lasting Colour High-precision
This is the high tech, high precision lip contour tool. Beautiful shades and long lasting hold. I love coloring lips with this pencil first and then toning down the color with a more subtle satin lip gloss.

I love the styli style liner! I have same liner and I must that it last all day on me. The guerlain lipstick is also a nice addition to my lippie collection. I am also a make-up junkie, and its a must to keep our train case and keep everything we want and dispose those expired items. Its quite expensive to become a beauty addict.

Well, at least the Styli Style won’t break the bank! Beauty therapy is still cheaper than fashion therapy.

First things first, “Am I the only one who wants new clothes, a fabulous purse, a new haircut and different makeup?” My jaw is dropping. You totally rule, this is what I’m talking about. ok!

I feel like this is when the new year begins. Winter is carried over from last yr and spring is really when the changes take full bloom. Great post! I want to try out everything you listed. A little sketchy bout the new haircut though.

So glad I found a twin soul! Don’t be afraid of haircuts. Unless you go for a pixie, hair grows back pretty fast. You wouldn’t want an inch or two to be in the way of the “NEW YOU”.
